The science behind the caterpillar
The caterpillar is characterized by its beautiful metamorphosis. From a small, writhing caterpillar, it blossoms into an expressive and fluttering butterfly. No other animal crawls so dynamically as the caterpillar. It is this movement that inspired Studio Toer’s new work.
Their ‘Caterpillar’ can be seen in the Tolhuistuin from May 8th on. In this work, Toer explores the possibilities of expression through movement. The work consists of kinetic rings that move and react in different ways. This creates a choreography that changes continuously and moves like a shell around a branch.
