Following your own path—a dance, an exploration, a discovery. Floating in Air is a representation of freedom in all its forms.

A mobile hanging in perfect balance, Floating in Air seems to defy gravity, suspended in a fleeting moment. Then, it begins to move. It comes alive as the blades on each arm start to move. The gentle motion of the wings harnesses the inertia of displaced air, propelling both the wing and the arm around. This movement sets off a chain reaction, inviting the other arms to join the weightless dance in search of perfect balance. The soft fluttering of the wings and the delicate structure of the arms create a dynamic, ethereal scene unfolding in midair.

It is a mobile in the tradition of Alexander Calder (1898–1976), an ode to his ingenuity, with which he seemingly turned the laws of nature upside down. In a sense, Toer’s Floating in Air mobile possesses a kind of free will—moving independently of the external forces acting upon it. Its autonomy makes every movement singular, every path taken unique.
