For the Amsterdam Light Festival, Toer developed a new installation: Misty Lanterns.
All over Amsterdam you can find the Kroonlantaarn (Crown Lantern). A beautifully decorated lantern from the end of the 19th century, originally designed for a gas flame. For the Amsterdam Light Fesitval we revive the good old times of the lanterns. At the Grimburgwal, a little street at the edge of the red light district, four lanterns show us how peaceful and mysterious the light must have been experienced during La Belle Époque, a period in Europe characterized by optimism and peace.
